Guide to Meal Prepping for the Week: Save Time and Eat Healthier

Updated: Mar 30

Meal prepping is a great way to save time and money and meet your goals. Deciding what to eat each week takes time, but determining your "staple" foods will get easier. Having food prepared will give you more time to devote to your workouts, self-care, and family time.

Typically, meal prepping involves making your meals for the week, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also like creating quick, healthy options for unpredictable moments! If you prep your food, you'll always have clean food, a snack arsenal w, and no excuses to grab something unhealthy!

No matter how you do it, planning anything will set you up for success. Food prepping is an essential thing that you can do on your health and fitness journey. Especially if you're focused on losing body fat and gaining muscles, fuel your body with well-planned, nutritious, delicious, balanced meals to allow it to function at its peak!

Meal Prepping Simplified:

  1. Meal Plan: Write the meals you want to eat for the week. Incorporate protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. Remember fruit and veggies, too. If you're a newbie, start planning dinner for the week!

  2. Shop: Check your fridge and pantry first, then list what you need to buy.

  3. Cook: To be efficient, utilize a crockpot or slow cooker! You can cook something there and use the oven or grill to prepare another meal.

  4. Store: Wash and chop your fruits and vegetables for an easy grab-and-go. Portioning out your meals will help your mornings go smoothly. Utilize meal prep storage containers- MAKE SURE THEY'RE GLASS OR STAINLESS STEEL. Grab new glassware here! If you're using plastic, never microwave in the tupawear.

Storage Guidelines:

  • Ground meats, poultry, and seafood can last 3-4 days

  • Soups and stews 3-4 days

  • Boiled Eggs 1 Week

Plan meals that have different tastes but utilize similar ingredients. AKA Cook once and eat twice. This will allow you to create multiple items from one prepped item and maximize your budget at the grocery store.

You can meal prep in under an hour with the right strategy, discipline, and recipes. Planning involves many ways to save time, food, and money.
