10 Things To Do If You Feel a Cold Coming On

Because we do NOT have the time, the patience, or the immune system for drama.

You know that feeling. Throat a little scratchy… nose doing that suspicious tickle thing… energy dropping like your phone battery at 1%. Before you start spiraling, here’s your gentle (but slightly bossy) reminder: you can stop a cold in its tracks if you move QUICK. Here are 10 things I swear by: holistic, effective, and maybe a little unhinged (in a healing way).

1. Raw Honey (Nature’s Sweet Medicine)

A spoonful of raw honey is basically the immune system’s love language. Antibacterial, antiviral, soothing, she does it all. Take 1–2 teaspoons throughout the day. Slow, intentional, let it coat your throat like you’re in a wellness commercial.

2. Raw Garlic: Three Times a Day (Sorry in Advance to Your Breath)

Yes, it’s spicy. Yes, your partner will act like you’ve betrayed them. But raw garlic is one of the strongest immune boosters on earth. Chop it, let it sit 5 minutes, swallow like a pill, or mix with honey. Do it three times a day until you feel human again.

3. Warm Key Lime Water: Three Times a Day

Warm water + key lime = your lymphatic system’s personal assistant. Hydrates, alkalizes, flushes out toxins, supports digestion. Bonus: it feels fancy and tropical even when you’re dying inside.

4. Zinc (Supplements and Food)

Zinc is like the immune system’s security guard. Take a supplement with food to avoid nausea, or load up on zinc-rich options like:

  • Pumpkin seeds

  • Chickpeas

  • Cashews

  • Oysters (if you’re feeling spicy and bougie)

5. Rest (Actual Rest, Not Pretending to Rest While Scrolling TikTok)

Your immune system cannot fight anything if you’re running around like an overwhelmed squirrel. Cancel the unnecessary. Lay down. Drink something warm. Nap like it’s your job.

6. Steamy Showers + Eucalyptus

Steam loosens congestion, opens the sinuses, and helps you breathe again. Hang some eucalyptus or drop essential oil on the shower floor. Instant spa moment + instant relief.

7. Elderberry Syrup (The Immune Boosting Baddie)

High in antioxidants and antiviral compounds. A tablespoon a day is great, two if you’re in battle mode. Extra points if it’s homemade, but store-bought can still be that girl.

8. Bone Broth or Mineral-Rich Soup

Warm minerals = quick recovery. Bone broth gives collagen, amino acids, electrolytes — everything your body is begging for. Sip it like a cozy potion all day long.

9. Hot/Cold Contrast Showers

Thirty seconds hot → thirty seconds cold → repeat a few rounds. Boosts circulation, wakes up the immune system, and low-key feels like you’re preparing for a warrior quest.

10. Cut Sugar for 72 Hours

Sugar suppresses your immune system harder than a toxic ex suppresses your self-esteem. For the next three days: No sugary drinks, no pastries, no “but it’s just a little cookie.”Your immune system needs a clean stage to perform.


Your body is literally trying to communicate with you. When you feel a cold coming on:

  • slow down

  • nourish deeply
